It is a sad and beautiful world. The duality of nature dictates that life is composed of ups and downs. Whatever life brings to us, it is made easier by sharing it with our loved ones. As Ringo sings, "I get by with a little help from my friends."

Here is something I wrote to a friend struggling with hard times. He felt like he could not socialize with his friends until he pulled himself out of his gloom. Instead, I urged him to draw upon his friends for love and light, rather than hide in his shame:

"Remember in It's A Wonderful LIfe, when Jimmy Stewart was at his lowest point, he wanted to end his life, and the angel Clarence showed him that "no man is poor who has friends".

You may feel like a Loser and feel worthless, as each and every one of us has at some point in their life, and might feel again in the circumstance you find yourself in. That does not make it true. What kind of people would we be if we only saw our friends when they were experiencing good times? That's called "fair weather friends".

You were raised to help, love, and protect the downtrodden in the most loving way. These are your principles, and yet, you cannot accept this from those that love you? It is the love of friends and family that raise all of us over the tyranny and false authority that Philistines like your nemesis promote.

We are here to show you, demonstrate to you, that your worth is not dictated, validated, nor dependent on the values set forth by petty people
in corporate positions who neither know you nor care about you. Instead, your worth comes from your own authority and those loving souls around you.

Outward circumstances do not generate self worth - self worth generates outward circumstances. You have it backwards.

I do not want to be a fair weather friend, nor have fair weather friends. We are not ashamed of you. We love you and want the best for your. Please agree to meet with us and step out of the shadows and into the light.

I agree with these sentiments so strongly. There is not a one of us who hasn't experienced down times when it feels like you've hit rock bottom. Without friends and family, it's hard to get out of the pit. We love you. Use our strength and happiness to fuel your recovery. We may need yours tomorrow.
